The Show

Hussian College Los Angeles/In Studio is dedicated to educating artists and creating well-rounded creative forces. The first step in that journey is the “Lab 390” course, which currently takes place in students' sophomore year. During the course of the semester, students dream up a future project, find collaborators and for their final grade, pitch it for the next year's performance festival. A team of faculty and outside industry luminaries decide which projects will move forward.  Hannah Gravelle and Isabel Cooper were part of a team of dance majors that wanted to explore, through a burlesque dance performance, the evolution of female empowerment throughout history. The show was chosen! Over the summer and fall semesters, the two producers hired choreographers, cast 28 dancers, and then brought the show to life. It opened in April at the Hussian College #WeAreFest spring festival at the El Portal Theatre in North Hollywood and ran for three completely sold-out shows.
